How long have you worked at Monsees & Mayer? Within the legal profession?
Even though the Monsees & Mayer team knew I had already committed to work at another firm after graduation in my hometown, Springfield, Missouri, they were kind enough to let me learn from them and work for them during my last year of law school. I stayed in touch and after working for that firm for a few years, returned to Monsees & Mayer in 2020, right before the world shutdown due to the pandemic. I feel honored to work with such an amazing team and have the opportunity to grow our presence in Springfield.
What inspired you to pursue a career in the legal industry?
I do not come from a family of lawyers- I am the first lawyer in my family that I know of. My father was a businessman and told me that no matter what I did, a law degree would be beneficial to my career. When I went to law school, I was not set on making a career out of the law. Luckily, I found something that I truly love doing- helping people tell their story to a jury of their peers and preparing their case for trial.
What do you love most about your job?
Our team. It does not feel like work when your colleagues and staff are your friends. It is inspiring to see just how much our team cares about our clients and fighting for the justice they deserve.
If there was one thing you would want clients or future clients to know about the Monsees & Mayer team, what would it be?
That we are not a volume-based firm. We only take on cases that we fell we can fully commit ourselves to. If we do not know our clients, on a personal level, how can we expect a jury to get to know them in just a few days? We take a personal approach to cases and strive to tell our clients’ stories an advocate on their behalf through the entire legal process and beyond. Cases can go on for several months, even years. Finding a competent lawyer that you trust to represent your interests is a top priority, but finding a lawyer that really cares about you and your future is equally important. I believe that our Monsees & Mayer team checks both of those boxes.
What would you say is the highlight of your career thus far? Highlight of working at Monsees & Mayer? Biggest accomplishment?
Seeing the Springfield office grow. When I came to Monsees & Mayer, the Springfield office did not have an attorney, so It sort of felt like we were building a new firm here. Watching the Kansas City team devote the firm’s resources to invest in the Springfield market in hopes to expand our ability to help people here has been fun to see. We are already planning on growing our Springfield branch again after just a few short years.
