How long have you worked at Monsees & Mayer? Within the legal profession?
My entire professional career. I started in 2014 as a clerk, then joined as an attorney in 2016.
What inspired you to pursue a career in the legal industry?
I was drawn to being a trial lawyer because I was fascinated by our civil jury trial system. I wanted to help people in that process who needed someone to fight on their behalf.
What do you love most about your job?
Two things: Jury trials and seeing our clients’ reactions when civil justice is finally served, whether through settlement or a jury’s verdict. Sometimes there are smiles, sometimes there are tears and most times there are embraces.
If there was one thing you would want clients to know about the Monsees & Mayer team, what would it be?
That this is YOUR case, not the attorneys. We understand that no matter how big or small your case might be, it is incredibly life altering. And we are here to support you and stand beside you throughout the process.
What would you say is the highlight of your career thus far? Highlight of working at Monsees & Mayer? Biggest accomplishment?
The highlight of my career thus far has been helping develop our firm’s sexual abuse practice area and helping victims and survivors obtain the justice and healing they deserve. As part of this effort, we have coordinated, and continue to advance new legislation that when passed here in Missouri and Kansas, will allow child victims of sexual abuse to pursue civil claims that would otherwise be barred by the statute of limitations.
Anything else you’d like to add?
It’s an honor to be a part of a team of great people who care deeply for clients and genuinely want to help others.
