Republic Co, KS (November 29, 2019) – A car crash on U.S. 36 highway and 30 Road along the state’s northern border is responsible for the deaths of four young children on Thanksgiving morning.
Six people were in the car when the accident occurred at about 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 28th. For reasons that have yet to be determined, the vehicle veered off of the roadway and plunged into a nearby pond.
When emergency medics arrived on the scene they discovered that all four children, reportedly all under the age of eight, were dead at the scene. The identities of those four children are still unknown at this time.
The woman was taken to Salina Regional Health Center. Her condition is listed as critical. Police have noted that her injuries and pending surgeries have made it challenging to learn anything further about the deceased children.
The sixth occupant of the car, a man who was entirely unharmed, was questioned by the highway patrol but did not appear to know much about the other occupants of the vehicle.
The nature of his relationship with anyone in the car remains unclear at this time.
Police also stated that they do not believe anyone in the vehicle is a Kansas resident.
Kansas Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victims at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
