Unexpected Discharge
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall on the DIANA Stormrider Gen 2 Air Rifle. They say that the rifle can unexpectedly discharge even if the safety is engaged, which could result in a serious injury or death.
The CPSC suggests consumers immediately stop using the rifle, and contact Air Venturi to receive a free Trigger Upgrade repair kit to fix the problem.
The Air Rifle was sold at Pyramyd Air, Air Gun Depot, and other air rifle retailers nationwide and online at Amazon.com, PyramydAir.com and AirGunDepot.com from July 2018 through June 2019.
What is a Product Recall?
A recall is when a product that has been mass produced is deemed unsafe to use. The action is taken by the manufacturer, or the government, to protect consumers from the product that may cause injuries, or even death.
In some recalls consumers are directed to throw out the product all-together, while others offer to fix the part that causes the product to fail. In the case of the DIANA Stormraider Gen 2 Air Rifle, the manufacturer has offered a repair kit to fix the problem.
The Dangers of a Defective Product
Unfortunately, dangerous products like this end up seriously injuring consumers before they learn about the recall, and especially before the recall has been announced. An unexpected discharge from an air rifle can cause serious injuries, or even death.
