Lawson, MO (February 04, 2020) – A car accident took place on Saturday, February 1st that put two people in the hospital with critical injuries.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:00 a.m. along Route M, near the intersection of West 176th Street.
According to reports, a 2009 Kia driven by a 16-year-old girl was driving southbound along Route M when, for reasons that have yet to be determined, the vehicle drifted off the right-hand side of the roadway. The driver overcorrected, causing her to swerve into oncoming traffic where she collided with a 2006 Mazda, causing both cars to end up in a roadside ditch.
The driver of the Mazda, Darren Schockley, a 55-year-old resident of Lawson, sustained very serious injuries during the collision. The teenage driver of the Kia also incurred very serious injuries and was not restrained in the crash.
Both victims were transported by Lawson EMS to Liberty Hospital in the city of Liberty. Both are listed in serious condition.
The Honda and the Kia are totaled.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Car Accidents Involving Inexperienced Drivers in Missouri
Inexperienced young or teenage drivers are the third most common reason for serious or fatal car accidents in the state of Missouri. According to statistics published by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, drivers who are under the age of 21 were responsible for 8,647 car accidents resulting in death or injury in 2014.
Car accidents frequently result in injuries that necessitate costly medical treatments, substantial healing time, and physical therapy. As you are probably well aware, all of these necessary things come at a price. Unforeseen costs may also arise from modifications you might have to make at home for you or your loved one to be able to live with your injury.
The expenses that stem from a critical car accident-related injury can go well beyond the amount that most families are able to handle without any support.
Our Missouri personal injury attorneys understand the legal system, Missouri traffic laws, and how to deal with big insurance companies that would otherwise try to bully you into a smaller settlement.
