Hit-and-Run Accidents in Kansas City

The laws concerning a hit-and-run accident in the state of Missouri plainly state that drivers are required to stay at the accident scene anytime an accident has lead to injury or death. Revised Statute 577.060.1 clearly denotes that a driver will be considered guilty of fleeing the scene should they be involved in a vehicle collision that causes any injury, death, or property damage and then absconds, failing to stop and provide their relevant information to the other driver.

In the event that the police locate the at-fault driver, they will probably be looking at criminal charges. That fact alone can certainly help your claim, but a criminal conviction by itself will not necessarily result in fair financial compensation for your damages.

A Missouri personal injury attorney will understand the legal system, Missouri traffic laws, and how to deal with big insurance companies that would otherwise try to bully you into a smaller settlement.
