Kansas City, MO (January 03, 2020) – Two people are dead following a three-vehicle collision that took place on Thursday, January 2nd on Northeast 64th Street near North Walrond Avenue in the city of Gladstone.
At about 6:00 p.m., a pick-up truck headed westbound along 64th Street veered across the center divider and into oncoming traffic where it sideswiped one vehicle before colliding head-first into another.
The driver of the second vehicle sustained various minor injuries and at least one person had to be extricated from their car.
Both the drivers of the other car and the pick-up truck were killed.
One of the deceased victims has since been identified as Detective Sergeant Jason Young, an officer with the department for two decades.
Young was off-duty at the time. It is still unclear which vehicle he was in.
The second decedent’s name has not yet been released.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victims at this time.
Head-On Collisions in Kansas City

Out of all of the possible types of car accidents, the one that most often ends in fatality for its victims is a head-on collision.
The injuries that result from this type of accident can run the spectrum from damage to the spinal cord causing paralysis, penetrating head wounds and sometimes even result in death. Those lucky people enough to escape with their lives often spend several years struggling to fully recover.
Any injuries caused by a head-on accident are going to be critical and possibly life-altering. Stacks of unpaid hospital bills and unamenable insurance carriers will just place undue hardship on the victims and their families who are already struggling to piece their lives back together.
A Missouri personal injury attorney will understand the legal system, Missouri traffic laws, and how to deal with big insurance companies that would otherwise try to bully you into a smaller settlement.
