Kansas City, KS (April 29, 2020) – A Kansas City, Kansas nursing home has become the latest target of a lawsuit surrounding the fatal COVID-19 outbreak in the area.
On April 6, 87-year-old Okey Long was diagnosed as the latest victim of COVID-19 at the Riverbend Post Acute Rehabilitation nursing home in Kansas City, Kansas. The virus recently plagued the facility, infecting more than 128 residents and staff at the facility.
A lawsuit filed against the facility asserts that the nursing home staff failed to notify family members about the illness and the outbreak.
On April 17, Okey Long succumbed to the illness. He became the 27th victim at the facility to pass away due to the coronavirus spread. The Riverbend facility’s death rate accounts for nearly 25% of the fatalities from the infection in the state.
Our deepest condolences go out to all of the victim’s families.
