KANSAS CITY, Missouri (November 15, 2023) — A Johnson County, Kansas, jury returned a $550,000 plaintiff verdict for a woman who was rear-ended by another driver while pulling into her driveway in 2021. She sustained permanent injuries to her neck and brain, causing chronic, life-long pain and suffering.

Prior to trial, the plaintiff presented a settlement opportunity to fully resolve the case for $100,000, the applicable insurance policy limits. The final offer from the defendant was $17,000. The defendant admitted liability but denied the causation of the plaintiff’s injuries and the nature and extent of her damages. The defendant also contested the permanent nature of the plaintiff’s injuries. The plaintiff was represented by attorneys Reed Martens and Chip Lee of Monsees & Mayer.

“It has been our honor to support our client for the past two years and help her obtain the justice she deserves,” says Martens. “She has suffered pain and anxiety since this accident, requiring ongoing medical treatment and care. While this trial result won’t take that away, it will help her continue to heal and seek out the resources she needs as she moves forward.”

The attorneys at Monsees & Mayer have nearly 100 years of combined experience handling personal injury, wrongful death and sexual abuse cases and have successfully obtained millions in compensatory justice for their clients.
