Belton, MO (March 27, 2020) – A three-vehicle collision on Thursday morning left one man seriously injured.

On March 26, at around 8 a.m., 54-year-old James R. Mygatt was traveling along the northbound side of Interstate 49 in a 1998 Ford F-150 when his vehicle was struck by a 2016 Kenworth trash truck, which was driven by 43-year-old Richard Knight.

The collision caused debris from Mygatt’s vehicle to break off and land in the roadway. A 2019 Freightliner box truck, driven by 47-year-old Wayne Keirsey, struck the debris and became disabled along the side of the road.

Mygatt sustained serious injuries in the collision. He was transported via Life Flight Eagle to Research Medical Facility in Kansas City for treatment.

At this time, the Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
