Volunteering With Operation Breakthrough
Our team spent time at Operation Breakthrough helping sort prom outfits and putting together educational kits for the children they serve. We’re grateful for the opportunity to support an organization making a real difference for children and families through education, care, and essential support services.
Supporting the Work of Rose Brooks Center
We were grateful to partner with Rose Brooks Center to support their group journaling activities with supplies and snacks for participants. Small moments like these matter. Creating space for reflection, healing, and connection. We’re honored to contribute in a way that supports the important work being done for survivors in our community.
Essential Care Kits for Survivors at MOCSA
Our team spent time putting together essential hygiene kits to support survivors connected with MOCSA. It was a simple but important way to help meet immediate needs and offer a small measure of care during a very difficult experience.
Contrubuting to the CAC’s Wishlist
Our team purchased items from the Children’s Advocacy Center’s wish list to help provide everyday essentials for children and families they serve. These donations are a small way to help ensure the CAC has the supplies needed to support children during some of their most difficult moments.
Night Out With MOCSA
Our team, Chip, Reed, David, and Cole, had a great time at Night Out with MOCSA, celebrating 50 years of impact in Kansas City! This year’s theme, “The Gold Standard Since 1975,” perfectly captured MOCSA’s legacy of supporting survivors and strengthening our community. Here’s to the next 50 years of making a difference together.
CAC’s Burger & Cheers to 30 Years
Our paralegal, Christy, joined the celebration at the Child Advocacy Center’s Burgers & Cheers to 30 Years event, a throwback party “like it’s 1995!” The evening brought together hundreds from the community for burgers, beer, and live music from Fly2K and Isaac Kenneth, all in support of 30 incredible years of protecting kids.
Donuts for a Cause
Our marketing team stopped by MOCSA to deliver a check from our Donuts for a Cause fundraiser with Donutology! During the campaign, Monsees & Mayer and Donutology each donated a portion of every box sold to support MOCSA’s work with survivors. A sweet way to make a difference!
Back-to-School Giveaway
We celebrated a local teacher with $200 in school supplies as part of our Back-to-School Giveaway. It’s our small way of supporting the vital work educators do every day for students in our community!
Subs for Support
Our paralegal, Christy, stopped by Jersey Mike’s to grab a sub during their fundraiser for the Child Advocacy Center, where 100% of sales that day were donated to support their vital work in the community. Delicious food for an important cause!
Advocacy, Awards, and Achievements
Testifying at the Missouri State Capitol
Ryan Frazier testified alongside Elizabeth Phillips in support of SJR 93, which would narrowly amend the constitution to expand rights for childhood sexual abuse claims. He later testified alongside Phillips in support of a similar measure, HJR 130, during its hearing before the House Judiciary Committee (pictured with Representative Sietz).
Standing Alongside Survivors
Reed Martens stood alongside child sexual abuse victims and other advocates at the Kansas State Capitol in support of HB 2688, which would make nondisclosure and confidentiality agreements in childhood sexual abuse cases unenforceable. Similar laws were passed in Missouri and Texas in 2025.
Standing With Children Awards
We had the honor of attending the Missouri Network Against Child Abuse annual Standing With Children Awards, which recognizes those advancing the fight to end child abuse in Missouri.
Advocating for Survivors in Jefferson City
Our attorney, Bobby Thrasher, traveled to the Missouri State Capitol to support survivors testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee on SB 589 and SB 590. These survivor-focused bills aimed to expand access to justice in childhood sexual abuse cases, and Bobby was there to stand alongside those working for meaningful change.
Young Lawyer of the Year
Our attorneys celebrated with Reed Martens at the 52nd Annual Bench-Bar & Boardroom Conference in Nebraska City, where he was honored as Young Lawyer of the Year by the KCMBA. This award recognizes lawyers under 36 who demonstrate excellence in civic leadership, professionalism, innovation, and public service, a well-deserved accolade for Reed!
Up & Coming in the Legal Community
Our attorney, Chip Lee, was recognized as a 2025 Missouri Lawyers Media Up & Coming Award honoree, celebrating young lawyers making a meaningful impact in the legal community. We were thrilled to cheer him on in St. Louis for this achievement!
Missouri Lawyers Awards: Legal Champion
Members of our firm joined the Missouri Lawyers Awards to celebrate our attorney, Ryan Frazier, as he accepted the Legal Champion Award for his tireless dedication to securing justice for survivors of sexual abuse and personal injury. It was an honor to see his commitment recognized on this statewide stage.
Trauma-Informed Communication Training
As part of our annual professional development, our team completed trauma-informed communication training with MOCSA. This training strengthens the way we support survivors, helping us listen with care, respond thoughtfully, and provide legal guidance that respects each person’s experience.
MOmentum for Change
Our attorney, Reed Martens, appeared on the MOmentum for Change podcast to discuss trauma-informed legal representation and how our team supports survivors. Through these conversations, Reed shared insights on the civil legal process and the steps we take to help survivors pursue justice.

Day of Action: Wear Teal
Our team wore teal for the Day of Action, showing support for survivors of sexual harassment and abuse. Teal, the color of sexual violence prevention, helped us raise awareness and spark important conversations in our community.
Denim Day
As part of the longest-running sexual violence prevention campaign in history, our team wore jeans for Denim Day to make a visible statement against the misconceptions that surround sexual violence. It’s a simple fashion choice with a powerful message: support survivors and challenge harmful myths.
Wear Blue Day
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Our team wore blue to help raise awareness and spark meaningful conversations about keeping children safe in our communities.
Start By Believing
Start by Believing Day provides an opportunity for communities to unify with a single voice for survivors. We hear you, we support you, and we will Start by Believing. Each year, our team signs the pledge because we believe survivors deserve to be heard, supported, and believed.
Art for Advocacy
During Sexual Assault Awareness Month, art students from Lee’s Summit West High School transformed the plaza with colorful chalk designs supporting survivors. MOCSA joined with a booth to share resources and information, creating a powerful community moment of art, awareness, and advocacy.
Sweet Support
During Sexual Assault Awareness Month, a few members of our team posed with one of the boxes of donuts we purchased for Donuts for a Cause. Every box helped raise funds for MOCSA, proving that giving back can be just as sweet as the treats themselves!
Consent Matters
Our Springfield team wore custom Consent Matters shirts to mark Sexual Assault Awareness Month, showing support for survivors and helping spark conversations about consent, respect, and education in our community.
